You know how it sounds when a station on HF is just a few kHz away? You can tell it’s someone talking but of course you can’t make out what they’re saying. Here lately, I’ve heard this all across both the 20 AND 40 meter bands. It’s overwhelming all signals with an S9 level that sometimes peaks at +20. I’ve tuned up and down 20, 40, 75 meters, but I haven’t found the culprit yet. It’s unpredictable when it will happen. It could be 7 am or 10 pm. Whoever it is, they’re quite long-winded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My first theory is another ham who lives up the street from me. He’s only 2 blocks away. If he’s running high power, would that cause this de-sense?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can’t image a cordless telephone being at fault since they’re all above 900 MHz nowadays. Nobody uses CB anymore so I can’t blame them, either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I might go visit the ham up the street, see if I can rule him out. Who knows, maybe he’s plagued by the same interference. Until I get to the source of it, the best I can do is just operate around someone else’s schedule.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
